Questions

Frequently asked questions

When are Class 10th and 12th board results declared?
Most boards declare results between late March and May. Bihar (BSEB) is usually first, in March. CBSE, CISCE and most state boards follow in April and May. NIOS holds two exam sessions a year, so it declares results twice.
Which websites show the board result officially?
Only the board’s own website and the portals it names, such as DigiLocker, UMANG or the state NIC results site, publish official marks. Every board card on this page links to its official website.
What do I need to check my board result?
Keep your admit card ready. Most boards ask for the roll number and roll code, or the roll number with date of birth. CBSE also asks for the school number and admit card ID on some portals.
Is the online marksheet valid for admission?
The online result is provisional. Colleges usually accept it for the first admission round, but the original marksheet issued through your school is the final document. CBSE and many state boards also issue digital marksheets on DigiLocker.
What if I fail in one or two subjects?
Every board holds a supplementary or compartment exam, usually in June or July, with results in July or August. You will find it on the same board page linked above.
My state is not in the list. Which board applies?
Schools in Delhi, Chandigarh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, and Lakshadweep mostly follow CBSE. Puducherry follows the Tamil Nadu or Kerala board depending on the region, and Ladakh follows JKBOSE or CBSE.
