Assam Board Class 10 Result 2027 (HSLC): Expected Date, Official Links, How to Check, and What Comes Next

The Assam HSLC Result 2027 will decide what comes next for more than 4 lakh Class 10 students across Assam: which Class 11 stream they take, which school they join, and whether they qualify for state awards and scholarships. The result will be published by the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) Division-I, which was known as SEBA until 2024.

ASSEB has not held the 2027 exam yet. The board has kept to much the same calendar for the last few years, so students and parents can already plan with some confidence. This guide covers:

  • the expected exam and result dates
  • how to check the result and what to do if the website is slow
  • how divisions, Star marks and Distinction work in Assam
  • what the 2026 result tells us
  • what to do after the result: re-checking, the compartmental exam, Class 11 admission on DARPAN, and Assam government schemes for students who pass

Last updated: September 2026. ASSEB has not announced official dates for 2027. Dates marked expected are based on the board’s pattern in recent years. We will update this page when the routine is released and again when the result is declared.

SEBA or ASSEB? Who Conducts the HSLC Exam Now

Many students and parents still search for the “SEBA result”. Here is how the board’s name changed:

  • Until 2024, Class 10 (HSLC) exams in Assam were run by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA), and Class 12 (HS) exams by AHSEC.
  • In 2024 the Assam government merged the two into one body, the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB).
  • SEBA now works as ASSEB Division-I and still conducts the HSLC and AHM exams. AHSEC works as ASSEB Division-II for Class 12.

For students, very little has changed in practice. The result is still published on sebaonline.org, and marksheets still reach you through your school. “SEBA result”, “ASSEB result” and “Assam HSLC result” all mean the same Class 10 result.

Where the 2027 Exam Cycle Stands Right Now

The 2027 HSLC cycle is under way. Here is where each step stands and what comes next:

1. Form fill-up (now) ASSEB does not accept forms from individual students. Your school fills in your HSLC form and pays the exam fee on the board’s registration portal. For the 2026 exam this window ran from 1 September to 21 October 2025 and was reopened twice, finally closing on 20 November 2025. Expect a similar window for 2027.

If you are in Class 10 now: ask your class teacher to confirm that your form has been submitted. Check that your name, parents’ names, date of birth and subjects are spelled correctly. These details are printed on your admit card and marksheet, and they are much harder to correct after the exam.

2. Exam routine (expected November 2026) The 2026 routine came out on 19 November 2025, so the 2027 routine will probably arrive in mid-to-late November 2026.

3. Practical exams and admit card (expected January 2027) In 2026, practicals were held on 28–29 January and admit cards were released to schools on 23 January.

4. Theory exams (expected February 2027) The 2026 theory exams ran from 10 to 27 February in two sessions: 9 AM to 12 noon and 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM.

5. Result (expected April 2027) See the dates table below.

Expected HSLC 2027 Exam and Result Dates

Assam used to declare the HSLC result in May or June. Since 2022 it has come a little earlier each year:

Exam YearTheory ExamsResult DeclaredCompartmental Result
2027 (expected)February 2027Early–mid April 2027Late June 2027
202610–27 February10 April 2026, 10:30 AM23 June 2026
2025February–March11 April 2025—
2024February–March20 April 2024—
2023March22 May 2023—
2022March–April7 June 2022—

Based on this pattern, the Assam HSLC Result 2027 is most likely in the first half of April 2027. ASSEB usually confirms the date and time only one or two days before the result, and the Education Minister often announces it first on social media. Treat any “confirmed date” you see before then with caution.

How to Check Assam HSLC Result 2027 Online

When the result is declared (usually at 10:30 AM), follow these steps:

  1. Open an official website: https://site.sebaonline.org/results/ or resultsassam.nic.in.
  2. Click the result link. It will be named something like “HSLC Examination Results 2027”.
  3. Enter your Roll and Number. These are two separate boxes. Take both from your admit card. For example, if your admit card shows Roll B26-123 and Number 0045, type each part into its own box. Joining them together is the most common reason for a “no record found” error.
  4. Type the captcha if one is shown, then click Submit.
  5. Check the result on screen. It shows your subject-wise marks, total, division, any Star, Distinction or Letter marks, and your pass status.
  6. Save it straight away. Download the page or take a screenshot. The websites slow down within minutes of the announcement because lakhs of students log in at once.
  7. Check every detail, including your name, parents’ names and subjects. If anything is wrong, tell your school the same day.

Other Ways to Get Your Result

If the main website is slow or not opening:

  • resultsassam.nic.in: the government’s second result site. It shows the same result.
  • “ASSEB Results” mobile app: the board’s official app. Download it from the Play Store before result day so you are not waiting on a slow download.
  • DigiLocker: your digital marksheet is added to DigiLocker after the result. You can log in with your Aadhaar-linked mobile number. It is also useful later for Class 11 admission.
  • Your school: schools receive the results gazette for their students, so you can get your marks there if you have no internet access.

Warning: Many private websites claim to show “HSLC result first” or ask for your phone number to “send the result”. The result is only official on the board’s own sites. Never pay anyone to see your result.

Passing Marks, Divisions, Star Marks and Distinction

The HSLC is marked out of 600 (6 subjects × 100 marks). Assam uses a few terms that students from other states won’t know, so here is what each one means:

TermWhat It Means
PassAt least 30% in each subject. Theory and practical/internal assessment must be passed separately
First Division60% or more in total (360+ out of 600)
Second Division45%–59% in total (270–359)
Third DivisionPassed in all subjects, total below 45%
Letter mark80 or more out of 100 in a single subject
Star mark75% or more in total (450+ out of 600)
Distinction85% or more in total (510+ out of 600)

Why these matter: Star marks and Distinction are not just honours. Star marks have been the qualifying standard for the Anundoram Borooah Award, the Assam government’s laptop and cash award scheme (see below). Many schools also use them for Class 11 merit lists.

Note: ASSEB can revise these rules. The board’s official gazette and your marksheet are final.

What the 2026 Result Tells Us

The 2026 result is the best guide to what the 2027 result might look like.

Overall numbers (HSLC 2026):

Figure2026
Registered candidates4,38,564
Appeared4,29,249
Absent9,315
Passed2,81,701
Pass percentage65.62%
Boys’ pass %67.78%
Girls’ pass %63.96%
First Division85,189
Second Division1,50,167
Third Division46,345
Distinction3,983
Star marks13,681
Letter marks99,062
Exam centres1,046

District results: Dima Hasao had the highest pass rate (88.23%), followed by Sivasagar (84.08%) and Dibrugarh (78.46%). Cachar had the lowest at 49.13%. Pass rates varied a lot between districts, from about 49% to 88%.

Topper: Jyotirmay Das of Sankardev Sishu Niketan, Patacharkuchi (Bajali) came first in the state with 591 out of 600.

What this means for 2027:

  • About one in three students did not pass in 2026. The compartmental exam and re-checking sections below are worth reading before the result, not after.
  • More than half of the students who passed got a Second Division. A first division (360+) puts you in roughly the top 20% of all candidates.
  • Unlike many other state boards, boys had a higher pass rate than girls in Assam in 2024, 2025 and 2026.

Pass Percentage Trend (2022–2026)

YearAppearedPass %Result Date
20264,29,24965.62%10 April

20244,19,07875.70%20 April
2023—72.69%22 May
20224,05,58256.49%7 June

Assam’s pass rate changes a lot from year to year. It has been anywhere between the mid-50s and mid-70s since 2022, so nobody can reliably predict the 2027 pass percentage. Ignore websites that claim to know it in advance.

Re-Checking of Answer Scripts

If you think your marks are wrong, for example a mark far below what you expected in one subject, you can apply for re-checking.

  • When: a few days after the result. In 2026 the window opened on 13 April, three days after the result.
  • How: online, through your school, within the dates in ASSEB’s notice.
  • What is checked: that all marks were added correctly and that no answer was left unmarked.
  • Fee: charged per subject. See the official notice for the current amount.
  • Result: revised marks are published on sebaonline.org, usually within a few weeks.

Be careful: re-checking can lower your marks as well as raise them, if an earlier mistake had gone in your favour. Apply only when you have a real reason.

HSLC Compartmental Exam 2027

Failing one or two subjects does not mean losing a year. ASSEB holds a compartmental exam a few weeks after the main result.

Who could take it in 2026:

  • students who failed in up to three subjects, and
  • who scored at least 170 marks in total across all subjects.

2026 timeline:

  • Exam: 29 May to 5 June 2026
  • Result: 23 June 2026
  • 62,571 students appeared and 52.63% passed

What to expect in 2027:

  • Form fill-up through your school soon after the April result
  • Exam in late May or early June 2027
  • Result in late June 2027

You only retake the subjects you failed. Marks in the subjects you passed stay the same. In 2026, ASSEB reopened Class 11 admissions on DARPAN after the compartmental result (see the next section), so students who clear the compartmental exam can still join Class 11 in the same year.

Understanding Your HSLC Marksheet

Your online result and marksheet will include:

  • Roll and Number: keep these safe. You will need them for re-checking, the compartmental exam, DARPAN admission and duplicate marksheets.
  • Candidate details: your name, parents’ names and school.
  • Subject-wise marks: theory and practical/internal assessment, shown separately.
  • Grand total (out of 600) and division.
  • Honours: letter marks next to subjects, and Star or Distinction where they apply.
  • Result status: Pass, Compartmental, or Withheld. If your result is withheld, contact your school straight away. It is often a paperwork issue.

The online result is provisional. The original marksheet and pass certificate are sent to your school some weeks later. Collect them in person and keep a few photocopies.

After the Result: HS First Year Admission Through DARPAN

In Assam, Class 11 (HS First Year) admission is done online only through the DARPAN portal run by ASSEB Division-II. Offline admissions are not accepted.

How it usually works:

  1. The DARPAN portal opens for applications shortly after the HSLC result.
  2. Students register with their HSLC Roll and Number and choose institutions and streams.
  3. Institutions publish merit lists. Your HSLC total is what counts.
  4. Selected students confirm admission within the dates given.
  5. The portal usually reopens for students who pass the compartmental exam. In 2026 it reopened until 4 July, and institutions had to finish admissions by 9 July.

Tip: Keep a scanned copy of your marksheet, a passport photo, and your caste or income certificate (if you have one) ready before the result, so you can apply on the first day.

Assam Government Schemes for Students Who Pass HSLC

This is one area where the Assam result matters more than in many other states:

Anundoram Borooah Award The state’s merit award for top HSLC scorers. Students who get Star marks have been eligible for a laptop, or a cash award instead of the laptop. It is implemented through AMTRON. Eligibility and amounts can change from year to year, so check the notification from the Education Department after the result.

Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Aasoni (girls) Girl students who pass HSLC and join Class 11 at a government or provincialised institution in Assam can get ₹1,000 per month for up to 10 months a year. Married students (except in PG/B.Ed) and daughters of ministers, MPs and MLAs are not eligible. Applications are made through the institution. The 2026–27 window ran from 14 August to 5 September 2026.

Incentive for students preparing for HSLC For the 2026 exam, the Assam government announced ₹300 a month for six months for HSLC students, paid directly into their bank accounts to help with tuition and food. Watch for a similar announcement for the 2027 batch.

Schemes and amounts are decided by the state government and can change. Always confirm on the official department website.

Choosing a Stream or Another Path

It’s worth thinking about your options before the result comes out:

Science: suits students strong in Maths and General Science who are interested in engineering, medicine, technology or research. It keeps the most options open, but seats at good institutions fill quickly on DARPAN merit lists.

Commerce: for students comfortable with numbers who are interested in accounting, business, banking or economics.

Arts / Humanities: for students who enjoy Social Science and languages. It leads to law, civil services, journalism, teaching and research, and Assam has strong Arts colleges at the HS level.

Other routes after HSLC:

  • Polytechnic diploma: 3-year engineering diplomas through Assam’s Polytechnic Admission Test (PAT).
  • ITI: short, trade-focused courses that lead straight to skilled jobs.
  • Vocational HS: some schools combine academic subjects with skill training.
  • NIOS: flexible open schooling for Class 11–12.

Choose based on real interest as well as marks. A good score in a subject you dislike doesn’t make it the right stream.

Result-Day Mistakes to Avoid

  • Typing Roll and Number in one box. They are separate fields.
  • Trusting unofficial “fast result” sites or anyone asking for payment.
  • Not saving your result before the website slows down.
  • Ignoring a small spelling or date-of-birth error. Report it to your school immediately.
  • Panicking over a Compartmental status. Check which subject it is first. It is often just one.
  • Applying for re-checking without a reason. Marks can go down.
  • Missing the DARPAN dates because you were waiting for the original marksheet. The online result is enough to apply.
  • Losing your admit card. You will need your Roll and Number for months.
