Maharashtra HSC Result 2027: Class 12 Exam Dates, Expected Result Date and Stream-wise

The Maharashtra HSC exam is the first major Class 12 board exam in the state’s calendar each year, and the result that follows decides MHT CET counselling, degree admissions and professional course eligibility for about 14 lakh students. MSBSHSE has announced that the HSC (Class 12) written exams will run from 8 February to 16 March 2027. The Maharashtra HSC Result 2027 is expected in early May 2027, since the 2026 result came on 2 May.

This guide looks at the 2027 schedule, then goes through the 2026 result by stream, division and candidate type. The numbers show a clear gap between Science and Arts, and a very low pass rate for repeaters. It then explains verification, revaluation and the class improvement scheme, which offers three more chances to raise your marks.

Where Things Stand Right Now

MSBSHSE released the tentative 2027 schedule for all nine divisional boards in September 2026:

  • Practicals, orals and internal assessment: 20 January to 6 February 2027
  • Written exams: 8 February to 16 March 2027

The detailed subject-wise time table will be published on mahahsscboard.in. Science students should plan their MHT CET and JEE preparation around this schedule. The written exam ends in mid-March, which leaves about a month before the MHT CET season usually begins.

Result Date and Pass Rate Trend

YearResult datePass %
20262 May89.79%
20255 May91.88%
202421 May93.37%
202325 May91.25%

Two trends:

  • The result date has moved from late May to the first days of May. Expect the 2027 HSC result in the first week of May, likely ahead of the SSC result again.
  • The pass rate fell by 2.09 points in 2026, the second drop in a row. At 89.79%, 2026 was the first year in this period below 90%.

The 2026 HSC Result: What the Numbers Show

2026 figureValue
Regular candidates registered14,44,713
Regular candidates appeared14,33,058
Regular candidates passed12,86,843
Overall pass %89.79%
Girls93.15% (6,28,699 of 6,74,874)
Boys86.80% (6,58,144 of 7,58,184)

Stream-wise Pass Percentage (2026)

StreamPass %
Science96.44%
Commerce87.03%
Vocational (MCVC)82.74%
ITI81.78%
Arts78.02%

The gap between Science and Arts is more than 18 points. That is one of the widest stream gaps of any state board. Arts students have the most to gain from revising early and practising past papers.

By Division and Candidate Type (2026)

CategoryPass %
Best division: Konkan94.14%
Lowest division: Latur84.14%
Divyang (specially abled) students90.58%
Private candidates80.21%
Repeaters36.44%

The repeater figure is the most striking: only about one in three students who wrote the exam again passed. If you are appearing a second time, get proper coaching or school support rather than just rewriting the paper.

Passing Rules

  • You need 35% in each subject.
  • In subjects with practicals, theory and practical parts have separate passing marks. You must clear both.
  • Grades: Distinction (75%+), First class (60–74%), Second class (45–59%), Pass (35–44%).

How to Check the Maharashtra HSC Result 2027

  1. Open mahresult.nic.in or hscresult.mkcl.org.
  2. Click HSC Examination February–March 2027 Result.
  3. Enter your seat number and your mother’s first name, spelled as in your registration.
  4. View and download your statement of marks.
  5. A digitally signed copy is also available on DigiLocker.

The board announces the pass figures at a press conference first. Individual marks usually go online a little later on the same day.

Verification, Photocopy and Revaluation

In 2026 the window was 3 to 17 May, starting the day after the result.

Service2026 feeWhat it does
Verification of marks₹50 per subjectChecks totals and any unmarked answers
Photocopy of answer sheet₹400 per subjectGives you a copy of your answer book
Revaluation₹300 per subjectFresh marking; allowed only after you get the photocopy

For Science students, even a few marks can change MHT CET and JEE eligibility, and college cut-offs. So check your photocopy against the model answers before paying for revaluation.

Class Improvement Scheme: Three Chances

Maharashtra lets students who passed HSC try again to improve their marks. For the 2026 batch, the board offered three chances:

  1. June–July 2026
  2. February–March 2027
  3. June–July 2027

Your better score counts. This is useful if you just missed a cut-off, a distinction, or the 75% eligibility for JEE-based admissions.

Supplementary Exam

Students who fail in one or more subjects can take the supplementary exam in June–July. If they pass, they can join degree courses in the same academic year, although seats in the most popular colleges may already be filled by then.

Common Mistakes on Result Day

  • Getting the mother’s name spelling wrong. Use the exact form in your school registration.
  • Paying for revaluation without reading the photocopy. Only apply where you can point to real undermarking.
  • Missing the verification window. It opens the very next day and lasts about two weeks.
  • Ignoring the practical marks. A missing practical mark shows up as a fail even if your theory is fine. Contact your college immediately.

After HSC: What Next in Maharashtra

Science (PCM / PCB)

  • MHT CET (run by the State CET Cell) is the main route to engineering, pharmacy and agriculture colleges in Maharashtra. For many courses, admission also needs a minimum percentage in HSC.
  • JEE Main / Advanced for NITs and IITs requires 75% in Class 12 (65% for SC/ST) or a place in the top 20 percentile.
  • NEET-UG for MBBS, BDS, BAMS and BHMS.

Commerce

  • B.Com, BMS, BAF and BBA admissions at Mumbai, Pune and other state universities, many through centralised or college-level merit lists.
  • CA Foundation registration after passing HSC.

Arts

  • BA admissions, MAH-LLB (5-year) CET for law, and B.El.Ed and similar teacher education programmes.
  • CUET-UG for central universities. Register early, because the form usually closes before the HSC result.
