UP Board 12th Result 2027: UPMSP Intermediate Expected Date, Pass Rate Trend and Admission Guide

For almost 25 lakh students in Uttar Pradesh, the UP Board 12th Result 2027 will decide college admissions, entrance exam eligibility and the first step into government job applications. The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) declares the Intermediate result together with the High School result. Based on the last four years, it is expected in the last ten days of April 2027.

The Intermediate result tends to have more surprises than Class 10. The pass rate is around 10 points lower and moves more from year to year, and private candidates face a tougher result. This guide uses the actual 2026 figures to explain what to expect, and what to do if the result doesn’t go your way.

Where Things Stand Right Now

The 2027 Intermediate batch was registered this month under a revised schedule. Schools had to finish uploading student data between 6 and 11 September 2026, and final submission to district offices is due by 30 September 2026. A ₹100 late fee was allowed for students who missed the first deadline.

Class 12 students should check one more thing that Class 10 students don’t need to: your subject combination. Once the data is locked, changing a subject (for example, from Biology to Maths) becomes very hard. If your school uploaded the wrong group, raise it immediately.

The next steps are the practical exam schedule (Intermediate practicals are held at school before the theory papers) and the theory time table, both expected by December.

Intermediate Pass Rate: Four-Year Trend

YearResult datePass %
202623 April80.38%
202525 April81.15%
202420 April82.60%
202325 April75.52%

The 2023 figure was a low point. Since the 82.60% of 2024, the pass rate has slipped a little each year. For 2027, a result between 78% and 83% would fit the trend. A figure outside this range would suggest a change in paper difficulty or marking policy.

The 2026 Result in Detail

2026 figureValue
Students appeared24,86,072
Students passed19,98,317
Overall pass %80.38%
Girls86.32%
Boys75.04%
Regular (school) candidates80.47%
Private candidates77.54%
Highest score97.6%

Three points from these figures:

  • The gender gap is much wider in Class 12. Girls led boys by 11.28 points, compared with about 6.5 points in Class 10.
  • Private candidates pass at a lower rate. Students who register without a regular school usually have less practice with the paper pattern and no internal assessment support.
  • About 4.9 lakh students did not pass. Many of them are eligible for the July compartment exam, covered below.

How to Check the UP Board 12th Result 2027

  1. Go to upresults.nic.in or upmsp.edu.in.
  2. Click Intermediate (Class XII) Examination Result 2027. The High School link sits right next to it, so check before you click.
  3. Enter your roll number and school code from your admit card, and fill in the captcha.
  4. Submit to see your marks in each subject (theory and practical), the total and your division.
  5. Save the page and a PDF straight away. You’ll need it for college forms within days.

Backup methods used in 2026:

  • SMS: UP12 <space> Roll Number to 56263
  • DigiLocker: results.digilocker.gov.in
  • The UMANG app

Passing Rules for Intermediate

  • 33% in each subject and 33% in total.
  • In subjects with practicals (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and others), your marksheet shows theory and practical marks separately. You need to pass both parts.
  • Divisions: first at 60% and above, second at 45–59%, third at 33–44%.

Why Your Percentage Matters More in Class 12

Unlike Class 10, your Intermediate percentage decides whether you are eligible for many things:

  • JEE admissions to NITs, IIITs and IITs require at least 75% in Class 12 (65% for SC/ST), or a place in the top 20 percentile of your board.
  • Many state and private universities set cut-offs or minimum percentages for B.Sc, B.Com and BBA admissions.
  • Some government job forms ask for your exact percentage, not just pass or fail.

If you end up just below one of these limits, scrutiny may be worth trying if you have a real reason to think marks were missed. So can the compartment route, if you failed a subject.

Scrutiny: Re-checking Your Answer Book

UP Board’s scrutiny checks two things: whether every answer was marked, and whether the totals were added correctly. It does not re-mark answers.

2026 detailInformation
Window27 April to 17 May 2026
Fee₹500 per subject (theory and practical separate)
PaymentTreasury challan only (government treasury or authorised SBI branch)
ProcessOnline registration plus the printed form and original challan sent by registered post to your regional office

Apply mainly for subjects where your marks are far below what you expected, especially where a few marks decide a 75% or cut-off limit.

Compartment Exam: One Subject, One Chance

Intermediate students who fail in exactly one subject can take the compartment exam in July. You only rewrite that one paper.

2026 compartment figureValue
Registered21,227
Appeared20,540
Passed16,286
Pass %79.29%
Result date17 August 2026

The Class 12 compartment pass rate (79.29%) is far lower than the Class 10 rate (98.95%). So prepare seriously for it rather than treating it as a formality. If you fail in two or more subjects, you have to take the next main exam again.

Reading Your Intermediate Marksheet

Look for:

  • Stream and subject group: check that it matches what you studied.
  • Theory and practical marks shown separately: a low practical mark usually means a problem with the school’s upload, so report it at once.
  • Result status: Passed, Compartment (one subject to clear), or Failed.

Keep the DigiLocker copy. Most colleges accept it for provisional admission.

Common Mistakes on Result Day

  • Checking the High School link by mistake. The two links are right next to each other.
  • Trusting “name-wise result” pages. UPMSP publishes results by roll number only.
  • Waiting for the original marksheet before applying to colleges. Admission windows open on the online marksheet.
  • Filling the scrutiny form online and not posting it. The form is rejected without the postal copy.
  • Not checking practical marks. Errors in practical marks are not rare and are easier to fix early.

What to Do After the Result

Science students

  • Check your JEE eligibility (75% rule) and NEET requirements.
  • UP state engineering colleges admit through JEE Main scores. Watch for the AKTU / UPTAC counselling schedule.

Commerce students

  • B.Com and BBA admissions at state universities such as Lucknow University open after the board result.
  • CA Foundation registration is open to students who have passed Class 12.

Arts students

  • BA admissions at state universities, CLAT for law, and B.El.Ed / integrated teacher education programmes.

All streams

  • CUET-UG is needed for central universities like BHU and Allahabad University. Its form usually closes before the UP result, so register in advance.
  • Many recruitment exams need a 12th pass certificate, for example SSC CHSL, the UPSSSC PET and police constable exams. Keep scanned copies of your marksheet ready.
