Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The resizing happens entirely in your browser using your device's own processing. Your image is never sent to us or stored anywhere — close the page and it's gone.
How does it hit an exact KB limit?
After resizing to your chosen dimensions, the tool automatically adjusts the JPG compression until the file fits under your maximum KB. If you also set a minimum, it tries to stay above that too, so the file isn't over-compressed.
Should I choose "crop to fill" or "pad with white"?
For passport-style photos, "crop to fill" keeps your face at the right size by trimming the edges. "Pad with white" fits the whole image inside the frame and fills the leftover space with white — useful for signatures or when you don't want any cropping.
The KB limit won't apply — why?
KB targeting works with the JPG format, which most forms require. If you pick PNG, the file size can't be compressed the same way, so switch to JPG when your form specifies a KB limit.
