Note: Citizens of India who hold the NCTE-prescribed qualification are eligible; Special School Teacher (9–10) eligibility follows RCI norms. Candidates appearing in STET 2026 may also apply, but must clear STET 2026 before the Preliminary Exam (with a self-declaration at the time of applying). CTET minimum pass: General 60%, BC/EBC/General Women 55%, SC/ST/Divyang 50%. A 5% relaxation in minimum qualifying marks applies to SC/ST/EBC/BC/Divyang candidates.

BPSC TRE 4.0 2026: Selection Process (Prelims + Mains)
- Selection is based on a Preliminary Examination followed by a Main Examination. There is no interview.
- Separate applications are invited for the Main Exam from candidates who clear the Prelims.
- Candidates give up to 38 district preferences; results are published only for the chosen districts as per subject/category merit.
- Guest teachers who meet the eligibility get a weightage of 5 marks per year of service, up to a maximum of 25 marks (subject to the pending LPA court outcome).
- A candidate may appear a maximum of 5 times.

Prelims syllabus: General Science; national & international current affairs; Indian history and key features of Bihar's history; general geography and Bihar's geography & rivers; Indian polity & economy; changes in Bihar's economy after independence; Indian national movement and Bihar's contribution; and general mental ability.
Main Exam
Objective (MCQ), 150 marks, 2 hours 30 minutes, with 1/3 negative marking. Part-I (Language) is qualifying (minimum 30%) and does not count toward merit.

BPSC TRE 4.0 2026: Negative Marking & Fifth-Option Rule (Important)
- Negative marking of 1/3 mark applies for every wrong answer.
- Each question has five options — A, B, C, D, and E. Mark A/B/C/D as your answer.
- If you do not want to attempt a question, you must darken option E.
- Leaving a question completely blank (none of the five options marked) is treated as unanswered and also draws a 1/3 penalty.
- In short: there is no free skip — always mark E on questions you choose not to answer.
BPSC TRE 4.0 2026: Reservation
- Vertical categories & codes: UR (01), SC (02), ST (03), EBC (04), BC (05), Backward Class Women / BCL (06), EWS (07).
- Women: 35% horizontal reservation (Bihar-domiciled women only).
- Persons with Disabilities (Divyang): 4% horizontal.
- Freedom fighters' grandchildren: 2% horizontal.
- Transgender (Third Gender) candidates receive Backward Class reservation benefit plus horizontal reservation.
- EWS: 10% (Bihar domicile only).
Note: Reservation is available only to Bihar domicile candidates, on the basis of certificates issued by the competent authority. Category cannot be changed after the last date.

Steps for Online Application

- Capture the live webcam photo, submit, and confirm you receive an Application ID / Bar Code (a preview is not a submission). Download and keep two printouts.
